Dump: Catastrophe in the making

Three cheers for Doug Sutherland and the Pierce County Council. For years they and the garbage haulers have battled hard to come out to South Pierce County and contaminate our sole water source, to destroy precious wetlands and eco-systems, all under the guise that we need a new landfill. After all, it'll save homeowners $1.50 a month, and think of all the bottled water the thousands of us out here will be able to buy with that.

Let's not forget about the traffic problems that hundreds of tractor trailers will bring on our two-lane country highway each day.

Seriously, the dump is a bad idea -an idea that shows that Sutherland and the council do not care about the environment or the people who have to live here. I just hope all the money the council and Tacoma and other cities think they are going to save is put in an account to await the lawsuits from homeowners with contaminated water.
